SC Parents’ content is created by Children’s Trust staff, community partners, parents and freelance writers.
Children’s Trust is working to identify a pool of freelance writers who are interested in contributing blog articles to scParents.org regularly. We are looking for paid freelance writers to make one-time and ongoing submissions.
Scope of work
Children’s Trust is seeking freelance writers to contribute blog articles on various parenting and family well-being topics. The articles should be between 500 and 1,000 words and follow AP Style. Article formats are wide-ranging and can be listicle, interview, long-form, personal essay, how-to, perspective piece, humor piece and more. Articles should have a South Carolina focus when possible. Writers can live in the state or nationwide.
Content topics include child development, childcare and education, community, finances and employment, food and nutrition, health and mental health, housing and goods, legal, parenting and safety.
While most freelance articles will be on a topic assigned by Children’s Trust, completed articles and pitches are also encouraged. We welcome original content published elsewhere if noted at the time of submission.
Our audience and tone
The website's main audience is parents and caregivers in South Carolina. A secondary audience is professionals who work with them. The tone of content should be light-hearted and approachable, while also remember that parenting is serious business.
