2025 Ready for Kindergarten Live!

The Ready for Kindergarten LIVE session will kick off with Cara Tyrell—a parenting coach, early childhood expert and mom. She’ll share insights from her own experience and coaching work, giving parents and early childhood educators practical tips on how to help kids get ready for kindergarten. In the second half hour, Red Bank Elementary’s Assistant Principal and South Carolina’s Assistant Principal of the Year Tomeka Love will share how schools and families can work together to help children be successful in kindergarten.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Name measurable indicators for comprehensive kindergarten readiness.
- Name executive functioning skills that support emotional intelligence needed for learning
- Describe a typical day in kindergarten, which balances academic instruction, play-based learning, and social-emotional development)
- List strategies that increase parental engagement, including collaborative learning activities
- Explain how and why “COVID Generation” children are struggling in school.
