DESCRIPTION:Kids who participate in the Mini Archaeology Excavation Unit activity will excavate their own tabletop archaeology unit. They will pick away at the dirt until they find artifacts buried in the mini archaeology unit (a pre-made block composed of sand\, plaster\, and mock artifacts). During this activity participants will learn about the steps archaeologists take in the field during a real excavation\, and how archaeologists analyze what they discover in the lab once they return from the field. \nThis program is for ages 4 – 18 years old\, however\, younger children can participate. All supplies for this hands-on activity are provided. The program will take place in the outdoor covered breezeway of Parker Annex Archaeology Center. Parents and guardians must remain with minors at all times.

Running through June\, each camp will take place Monday through Thursday for approximately 3 hours per day 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. There are two separate sessions for each of the orbit Academy and Rations to Recipes camps. After\, make your own sheet of recycled paper with paper pulp using a deckle and frame. You will get a chance to decorate your sheet with colorful paper confetti and wildflower seeds\, before taking it home to dry. \nThis program is for ages 6 – 18 years old\, however\, younger children can participate.
