4 Hispanic Heritage Month Events in South Carolina to Check Out

Hispanic Heritage Month, recognized annually in the United States from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, honors Latino culture and history.

To help you and your family celebrate, we’ve curated a few events across the state.

Sept. 27 in Summerville

Meet at Hutchinson Square in Summerville for Fiesta on the Square, an evening of music, food and culture featuring musicians of Chamber Music Charleston and DJ Luigi of Latin Groove.

This free family-friendly event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Learn more.

Sept. 28 in Columbia

Join the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) South Carolina for a free Hispanic Heritage Month presentation and discussion on mental health, bilingual programs and more at the Richland Library North Main branch from 5 to 6 p.m. in Columbia.

Light food, refreshments (and coffee!) is provided. Registration is required, as there is a limit of 20 participants. Learn more.

Sept. 20 to Oct. 6 in Greenville

Step into a world of vibrant stories and cultural expression through a collaborative exhibit, Raíces de Quienes Somos, of the Hispanic Alliance & Good Art Co., where the roots of Hispanic and Latinx heritage are brought to life through the eyes of four distinguished artists from the Upstate—Carla Henríquez, Jorge Rojas, Orlando Corona, and Roberto Cortez.

The showcase is open Wednesday through Saturday from Sept. 20 to Oct. 6. Learn more.

Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 in Myrtle Beach

Visit the Chapin Memorial Library in Myrtle Beach and explore their Hispanic Heritage Month display, including books and activities in Spanish, English and both languages. The Exhibit will last until Oct. 15. Learn more.
